About the Webinar:
You may be aware that May 17th is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia & Transphobia. This is an important day in the LGBTQ+ calendar and is marked by corporate organisations, schools, and universities around the world. The day seeks to increase the visibility of rights violations around the world and demonstrate the collective power of allyship.

What is IDAHOBLIT?
  • International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia & Transphobia is abbreviated to IDAHOBIT.
  • Why 17 May? 17 May is a significant date in the history of human rights for international LGBTQ+ communities. In 1990, the Republic of Ireland voted to decriminalize homosexuality, and in 1992 Malta followed suit. It is also the anniversary of the day that the World Health Organization removed homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases in 1990.
  • The concept was originally developed in 2004 by Louis-Georges Tin. The day as a concept was then first commemorated in 2005 as a movement against homophobia with over 24,000 people taking part.
  • The concept also includes transphobia, biphobia, and intersexphobia and is now celebrated in over 130 countries worldwide.
  • In 2021, DIVA CEO Linda Riley proposed the addition of "L" to represent lesbians who are subject to lesbophobia.

Who Is This Webinar For?
  • Employees or co-workers who would like to learn more.
  • Senior leaders who wish to better understand how to support teams.
  • This webinar is open to anyone regardless of sexual orientation and gender.
